Seniors Kirsten Lightel and Jenna Hollar named NFCA Second Team All-Central Region in Softball

ADA — Ohio Northern seniors Kirsten Lightel (Tallmadge) and Jenna Hollar (Lima/Bath) were named Second Team All-Central Region in voting conducted by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.

Lightel is now a four-time All-Region honoree and a four-time All-Ohio Athletic Conference award winner.

She is ONU's all-time career leader with 512 strikeouts and a 1.45 ERA and her 66 victories tied the ONU career mark.

She pitched in 103 games during her four seasons as a Polar Bears, posting a 66-22 record with three saves and pitched a school record 602.1 innings.

This season, Lightel was 20-4 with a school record 142 strikeouts and a 1.45 ERA in the circle.

Hollar is a two-time All-Central Region honoree and a three-time All-OAC award winner as an outfielder.

She is ONU's all-time career stolen base leader with 123, is fifth all-time with 146 runs scored, is sixth with 204 career base hits and is seventh with a .395 career batting average.

This season, she hit a career-best .445 and set ONU's single-season record with 40 stolen bases.

The Polar Bears posted a 32-11 record, were 13-5 in the OAC, won the OAC Tournament and advanced to the finals of the Notre Dame, Indiana Regional tournament in 2018 under second-year head coach Jackie Price.
