ADA — The Ohio Northern softball team will face Case Western Reserve in the first round of the St. Mary's Regional on Friday at Noon in the NCAA III Softball Tournament.
The NCAA originally announced the Saint Mary's Regional as a Thursday-Saturday schedule, but recently corrected that to confirm that the Regional will adhere to a traditional Friday-Sunday format.
No. 10-ranked tournament host Saint Mary's (Ind.) will then face Mount Aloysius (Pa.) in the other first round contest on Friday at 2:30 pm.
The Polar Bears (30-9 overall) earned the Ohio Athletic Conference's automatic bid to the NCAA III Championships by winning the OAC Tournament last weekend.
The NCAA Tournament is a 62-team field with 14 four-team Regional and two three-team Regional double-elimination tournaments this weekend.
The 16 Regional champions then play in eight Super Regionals next weekend with those eight champions advancing to the NCAA III Softball World Series May 24-29 at the USA Softball Hall of Fame Complex at Oklahoma City, Okla.
