WILMINGTON -- The Ohio Northern softball team fell 2-1, 2-0 in their season finale on Sunday afternoon at Capital in Columbus.
The Polar Bears finish the season 25-13 overall and 9-9 in the Ohio Athletic Conference, while the Crusaders improve to 25-15, 12-6.
Freshman Athena Triglia (Winchester, Cal./Chaparral) led the Polar Bears with two hits on the afternoon and a run scored.
In the first contest, Northern broke a 0-0 tie through the first two innings to take a 1-0 lead.
Triglia opened the top of the third inning with a double down the right field line.
From there, a single from junior Anna Martin (Huntsburg/Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin) to left field scored Triglia to give ONU a 1-0 lead.
Capital would rally in the bottom of the fifth inning with two runs to take and seal the 2-1 win.
The Crusaders were able to grab the lead early lead in the second contest as they plated two runs in the bottom of the second and third inning to take a 2-0 lead.
A defensive battle would ensue as Capital went on to complete the sweep and take game two 2-0.
