CLERMONT, Fla. - The Polar Bears defeated Potsdam (N.Y.) 5-1 andCabrini (Pa.) 12-4 Tuesday at the National Training Center in Clermont, Fla.
Ohio Northern moves to 5-3 overall on the season.
In game one, freshman Kirsten Lightel led the way for ONU pitching a complete game and striking out 12 in the contest.
Potsdam scored first, plating a run in the top of the third to take a 1-0 advantage.
Ohio Northern responded in the bottom of the fourth as freshman Jenna Hollar hit an RBI single to right center that plated the tieing run 1-1.
Later in the inning freshman Gia Saturday hit a double to left that scored three and gave ONU the 4-1 advantage.
Northern would add one more run in the bottom of the fifth as freshman Miranda Huddle singled to left center scoring senior Kelly Sheridan.
The Polar Bears recorded seven hits and five RBI in the game.
In game two, the Polar Bears started strong as they scored five runs in the top of the second, followed by three in the third, two in the fourth, one in the sixth, and one in the seventh.
Freshman Anna Martin led ONU in the contest recording three RBI.
Saturday and freshman Jenna Hollar added two RBI a piece.
ONU was led on the mound by freshman Kirsten Burden who got the win and struck out seven.
Ohio Northern is next in action Saturday at 5 pm.
