Softball wraps up spring break trip with 7-3 record after split on final day

CLERMONT, Fla. — The Ohio Northern softball team wrapped up its annual spring break trip with a 7-3 record after splitting its final two games at the NTC Games on Friday.
The Polar Bears dropped their first game of the day 6-5 to Elizabethtown (Pa.) Friday morning before rallying to defeat Lebanon Valley (Pa.) 11-2 Friday afternoon.
Sophomore Christin Miller was 3-for-3 with a double and two RBI and threw 5.0 innings of shutout relief to earn the win on the mound to lead Ohio Northern against LV.
Senior Cassie Gaye had a 2-run single and freshman Kelly Sheridan had a 2-run double as ONU had a 7-run first inning to put the game away early.
Gaye was 2-for-5 with 3 RBI and Sheridan was 2-for-3 with two RBI.
Against Elizabethtown, the Blue Jays scored three unearned runs in the top of the seventh to rally for the win.
Gaye had an RBI double and sophomore Alia Brodie had an RBI single as ONU broke a 3-3 tie with two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.
The Polar Bears will return to action March 22 with a double-header at Alma (Mich.)
