Junior All-American Jackie Mangola became ONU's all-time career home run leader with a 3-run home run in the top of the third inning.
Mangola's blast, her school-record 19th of the season, gave the Polar Bears a 5-0 lead in the top of the third frame.
The home run was also the 39th of her career, breaking the ONU career record set by her sister, two time-All-American Tina Mangola, who hit 38 from 2007-10.
Mangola's record-breaking home run highlighted a 7-run third inning in which ONU sent 12 batters to the plate.
After Mangola's home run made it 5-0, sophomore Michelle Sweet knocked out an RBI single to make it 6-0 and freshman Christin Miller capped the rally with a two-out, bases-loaded triple to extend Northern's lead to 9-0.
Sophomore Michelle Sweet gave Ohio Northern an early 2-0 lead with a 2-run home run in the top of the second.
The Purple Raiders pulled within 9-4 by scoring four times in the bottom of the third, capped by a 3-run home run by Mara Palombaro.
Sophomore Katy Newman drove home Sweet with ONU's 10th run in the top of the fifth.
Sweet drove in her fourth run of the game in the top of the sixth when she singled home sophomore Ashley Sujkowski, who had tripled.
Northern added to its lead in the top of the seventh when junior All-American Kimi Blewett had an RBI double, freshman pinch runner Colleen Baliga scored on the back end of a double steal and junior Katie Cretin had a run-scoring double.
