No. 10 Softball picks up 11-3 victory over Centre (Ky.) and 6-1 victory over Birmingham Southern (Ala.)

MARYVILLE, Tenn. — The No. 10-ranked Ohio Northern softball team swept its first two games at the Maryville Tournament with victories over Centre (Ky.) and Birmingham Southern (Ala.) on Saturday afternoon.
The Polar Bears improve their season record to 9-1 after defeating Centre 11-3 and Birmingham Southern 6-1.
Senior pitcher Cortney Cash improved to 6-1 on the season having pitched six innings in the first game giving up three runs on four hits while striking out six and continued her dominant day in the second game by pitching seven innings giving up one run on two hits while striking out six.
Cash has now recorded 32 strikeouts and has pitched four complete games in seven appearances this season.
Sophomore Katie Cretin paced Northern in the first game against Centre, going 3-3 with a triple and two runs to propel the Polar Bears to the 11-3 win.
Cretin now leads the team with two triples on the season.
Sophomore catcher Kim Blewitt went 4-for-4 with three singles and a two-run home run to lead the Polar Bears to the 6-1 victory over Birmingham Southern in the second game.
The home run was Blewitt's team leading third of the season and moved her RBI total up to a team leading 18 on the season.
Northern returns to action on Sunday as they will take on host Maryville (Tenn.) at 9:30 am and will finish up the tournament with a rematch against Centre at 11:30 am.
