Blewett joins 100-Hit Club, No. 4 Softball extends win streak to 26 with 11-3, 11-0 sweep at Otterbein

WESTERVILLE – The No. 4 ranked Ohio Northern softball team ran its winning streak to 26 games and sophomore Kimi Blewett became a member of ONU's 100-Hit Club as Northern swept Otterbein 11-3, 11-0 in Westerville.
The Polar Bears improve to 29-1 overall and 12-0 in the Ohio Athletic Conference, while Otterbein falls to 6-10 overall and 1-11 in the OAC.
Blewett went 2 for 6 on the day to surpass the 100-hit plateau in her two seasons at ONU.
Senior pitcher Courtney Cash pitched well in the first game, allowing two runs on three hits while striking out four in four innings to improve to 14-1 on the season.
The Polar Bears trailed 1-0 before a four-run third inning put them in the lead for good.
Sophomore Katie Cretin lined a single to right field that scored senior Mandi Fought and freshman Katie Salay.
Cretin finished the game with three RBI's.
Sophomore Cassie Gaye then had her own single to right center field to score Cretin and sophomore Jackie Mangola.
Blewett's 100th hit was a RBI single in the top of the fourth inning to score Fought.
The six run fourth inning staked Northern to a 10-2 lead.
Sophomore Maggie Molnar improved her record to 11-0 on the season, giving up three hits in two innings of work in Game 2.
Sophomore Lauren Hurd and freshman Abby Bensing also pitched, allowing no hits to put away the Cardinal.
Gaye blasted a 3-run home run in the first to put Northern up 3-0.
Blewett's 2-RBI single in the second gave her 101 hits for her career.
Northern scored five runs in the second and three runs in the third to push their lead to 11-0.
The Polar Bears return to action on Thursday at 3 pm as the travel to Bluffton for a non-conference doubleheader.
