No. 4 Softball clinches OAC Regular Season crown with two come from behind victories at Wilmington

WILMINGTON --No. 4-ranked Ohio Northern won its second consecutive Ohio Athletic Conference Regular Season championship with a pair of come-from-behind victories at Wilmington in an OAC double header Wednesday afternoon at the WC Softball Complex.
Northern rallied for two runs in the sixth and four more in the seventh to win the opener 6-1 and scored six times in the sixth frame to win the nighcap 9-4.
The Polar Bears improve to 34-2 overall and are 16-0 in OAC play, while the Quakers fall to 12-18, 3-11.

The Polar Bears have now won three of the last four OAC Regular Season crowns, taking league titles in 2007, 2009 and 2010.
In Game 1, senior Cortney Cash threw a 2-hitter and struck out eight and sophomore Kimi Blewett drilled her team-best 10th home run of the season to lead Ohio Northern.
Blewett's dinger in the top of the sixth came with the Polar Bears trailing 1-0 and gave the visitors the lead for good.
ONU put the game away with four runs in the top of the seventh, keyed by a 2-run single by sophomore Jackie Mangola.
In Game 2, Northern batted around in the top of the sixth, scoring six times, to turn a 4-3 deficit into a 9-4 advantage.
Jackie Mangola hit a 2-RBI single to start the rally and give ONU a 5-4 lead.
Freshman Abbey Bensing (2-0) picked up the victory.
Sophomore Katie Cretin went 3 for 4 with three RBI for ONU.
The Polar Bears will wrap up their OAC regular season schedule on Saturday with a double header at Mount Union.
