ADA — The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association awarded All-Academic status to the Ohio Northern men's cross country team and named senior Breydan Hann (Wooster), sophomore Ryan Massie (Beavercreek) and junior Kyle Roth (Rockford/Parkway) as All-Academic Athletes for the 2022 season.
The Polar Bears were named an All-Academic Team for having a cumulative GPA better than 3.1 on a 4.0 scale. As a team, ONU posted a cumulative GPA of 3.306 and was one of 189 programs honored.
In order to qualify as an All-Academic Athlete, runners must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top 25% of their respective regional championship meet. In all, 320 men from 119 different institutions earned the honor.
Roth, a marketing major, finished a team-best 47th of 272 runners in a personal-best time of 25:18.6 at the Great Lakes Regional Championships this past season.
Massie, a computer engineering major, finished 63rd overall at the regional meet in a personal-best time of 25:27.9.
Hann, a manufacturing technology major, was third among Polar Bear runners at the regional meet, placing 66th overall with a time of 25:29.2.
All three student-athletes were Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference selections for 2022, and Roth and Hann also earned All-OAC recognition after finishing 13th and 16th, respectively, at the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships.
This marks the second USTFCCCA All-Academic honor for Hann, who also earned the recognition in 2021.
The Polar Bears closed the season with a ninth-place finish of 38 teams at the regional meet, finishing with an overall record of 111-37 under 14th-year head coach Jason Maus.
