Dreimeyer, Wright grab individual leads after winning Polar Bear Grand Prix 8k, 6k races

ADA — Sophomore Billy Driemeyer (House Springs, Mo./Lindbergh) and senior Megan Wright (Eaton/Twin Valley South) took leads in the individual standings of the Polar Bear Grand Prix by winning the men's and women's races of the 6k8k race on Friday.
Driemeyer won the men's 8k race in 26:58 to score 350 points in the Grand Prix series.
Driemeyer leads the men's individual standings with 712.5 points, junior Patrick Baker (Massillon/Jackson) is second with 650 points and senior Travis Sutter (Fort Recovery) is third with 612.5 points.
Baker was second in the 8k race in 27:47 to score 300 points for a total of 650 and Sutter was third in 27:59 to score 250 points and have 612.5 total points.
Driemeyer and Sutter went into the race tied with 362.5 points and Baker was a close third with 350 points.
On the women's side, Wright won the 6k race in 23:53 to grab the 350 winner's points.
Freshman Megan Vapenik (Strongsville) was second in 24:00 and junior Taylor Ellerbrock (Columbus Grove) was third in 24:12.
Ellerbrock entered the race leading the team standings with 400 points and is now second with 650 points.
Wright leads the team standings with 687.5 points and Vapenik is third with 550 points.
