ADA — The Ohio Northern men's cross country program has been named a United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Academic Team for the third consecutive campaign under 10th-year head coach Jason Maus.
To be considered for the award, teams must post a 3.10 cumulative grade point average or higher on a 4.0 grading scale and register a team score at an NCAA Division III regional competition.
This season, 178 men's and 215 women's cross country programs were recognized with the honor at the NCAA Division III level.
Meanwhile, sophomore Travis Sutter (Fort Recovery) earned individual All-Academic honors for the first time in his career, joining 682 student-athletes around the country honored with the award.
For individual honors, an athlete must achieve a minimum 3.30 cumulative grade point average and finish in the top 25% of all competitors at their respective regional championship meet.
The second-year pharmacy student ended among the team's top-seven finishers on six occasions and posted a career-best 26:22 finish at the Great Lakes Region Championships. He also received Academic All-OAC and Second-Team All-OAC kudos after ending 16th at the conference championship meet.
Ohio Northern compiled a 97-29 overall record during the 2018 season and wound up third at the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships, their 14th consecutive top-three effort at the league-wide event.
