ADA — For the second successive week in the 2018 season, former NCAA All-American and senior cross country runner Ian McVey (Stow/Munroe Falls) represented Ohio Northern as the Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week for the period of September 3-9.
McVey finished third overall out of 302 total competitors and was the top finisher for the Polar Bears at the Calvin (Mich.) Knight Invitational this past Saturday, September 8. His time of 25:06 guided Northern to an 11th-place finish in the team standings out of 23 competing schools and marked the fastest time among runners from NCAA Division III institutions.
The senior has now led ONU across the finish line in 12 consecutive races, dating back to the 2016 season.
The honor marks the fifth time in McVey's career that he has been tabbed the OAC Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week.
Ohio Northern will return to the course on Saturday, September 15 when they travel to Shelbyville, Indiana for the Pre-Regional Meet. Race time is set for 4 p.m.
