Saturday's Championships: The No. 26-ranked Ohio Northern men's cross country team will compete at the 2017 NCAA Division III Championships at the North Farm Course in Elash, Ill. ... The men's race is slated to begin at 11 am (CST), preceding the women's race, which is set to begin at 12:15 pm ... The Polar Bears are making their fifth appearance at the NCAA III Championships as a team and their second consecutive trip ... ONU finished 14th in 2016, 11th in 2008, 17th in 2007 and 32nd in 2006 ... This will also mark the 13th consecutive season that Ohio Northern has been represented at the NCAA III Championships by either the men's or women's team or by at least one men's or women's individual qualifier ... The top two teams in each of the eight Regional races received automatic bids to the NCAA III Championships and the NCAA then selected 16 more teams from across the country to receive at-large bids and complete the 32-team NCAA Championships field ... The top 40 individual finishers will earn All-America honors ... Junior Ian McVey and seniors Matt Molinaro and Bobby Borger all earned All-Great Lakes Region honors after finishing in the top-35 of the race in a field of 242 runners ... McVey won the Great Lakes Regional Championships race in 25:11 ... McVey, the individual winner of OAC Championships and All-Ohio Championships, became the first men's runner in school history to win the regional meet ,,, Molinaro was sixth in 25:34 and Borger was 13th in 25:49.
Head Coach Jason Maus: Maus is in his 9th season as head coach with a 964-195 record, a winning percentage of .832 ... Maus is the winningest men's cross country head coach in school history and surpassed the 900-win plateau during the Principia (Ill.) Cowbell Classic.
