ONU Race Notes: The No. 18-ranked Ohio Northern men's cross country team enters Saturday's NCAA Div. III Great Lakes Regional meet after claiming its third consecutive Ohio Athletic Conference Championship title, completing the task for the first time in school history ... The men's race is slated to begin at 11 am, preceding the women's race, set to begin at 12:15 pm ... Live results for the meet can be found at ONUSports.com and on finishtiming.com ... The Polar Bears saw three athletes earn First Team All-OAC honors during the conference championships ... Junior Ian McVey claimed the OAC Individual title and senior Matt Molinaro finished as the runner up to lead the Polar Bears ... McVey won the individual title in 25:04.3 to lead ONU across the finish line, while Molinaro claimed second place in 25:09.6 and senior Bobby Borger finished fifth overall in 25:23.2 ... Mcvey, Molinaro and Borger all earned First Team All-OAC kudos for their efforts ... Northern saw two more athletes earn All-OAC honors as senior Sam Boyd and junior Spencer Schulze finished 12th and 13th overall to earn Second Team All-OAC honors ... The top-35 individual finishers in the event will earn United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Region honors ... In each of the eight regions across the country, the top-2 finishing teams will earn automatic bids to next weekend's NCAA Div. III National Championships, while the next 16 best team times across the country will earn at large bids to the National Championships, completing the 32 qualifying teams ... After the 32-team field is set for the NCAA III Championships, the next best seven times in each region not on a qualifying team will earn individual bids to the NCAA III Championships.
Head Coach Jason Maus: Maus is in his 9th season as head coach with a 931-193 record, a winning percentage of .828 ... Maus is the winningest men's cross country head coach in school history and surpassed the 900-win plateau during the Principia (Ill.) Cowbell Classic.
