ONU Race Notes: The Ohio Northern men's cross country team enters Saturday's Ohio Athletic Conference Championships after a strong showing at the Principia (Ill.) Cowbell Classic where it finished 12th of 38 teams and defeated four nationally ranked teams ... The OAC Championships are set to begin with the men's 8k race at 11 a.m. with the women's 6k race following at 12:15 pm ... Northern was led in the Cowbell Classic by junior Ian McVey led ONU across the finish line, posting a 24th place finish in 25:36.82, while senior Matt Molinaro finished 40th of 354 runners in a season-best 25:55.33 ... Senior Bobby Borger finished 61st overall in the race and was the third Polar Bear to cross the finish line in 26:12.32 ... The Polar Bears will look to claim the Ohio Athletic Conference title for the third time in as many years ... Northern has claimed the last two OAC Championships titles and has finished in the top-3 in the team standings for 12 straight seasons ... McVey earned First Team All-OAC honors in 2016 after finishing third overall, while Molinaro and Borger, senior Sam Boyd and junior Spencer Schulze all earned Second Team All-Conference honors after finishing in the top-18 in 2016 ... ONU's eight All-Conference honorees in 2016 was a school record and is believed to be an OAC record ... ONU enters the race as the only OAC school nationally ranked, while Otterbein received votes in the most recent United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association poll.
Head Coach Jason Maus: Maus is in his 9th season as head coach with a 922-193 record, a winning percentage of .827 ... Maus is the winningest men's cross country head coach in school history and surpassed the 900-win plateau during the Principia (Ill.) Cowbell Classic.
