ONU Race Notes: The No. 24-ranked Ohio Northern men's cross country team will compete at the Principia (Ill.) Cowbell Classic on Saturday morning at Elsah, Ill. ... The men's 8k race will begin at 9 am (CDT), with the women's 6k race following at 9:45 am (CDT) ... This race is also the pre-national race, as the NCAA III Championships will be held here on Nov. 18 ... Up to 12 runners may compete on each team in the varsity races ... 27 teams are expected to participate, with 16 nationally-ranked teams and 20 regionally-ranked teams in the field ... Six of the nation's top 10 ranked teams are in the field, including No. 1 North Central (Ill.) and No. 2 Geneseo State (N.Y.) ... ONU will also send a team of runners to compete in the Open Race at the Oberlin Rumble near Cleveland ... The women's 6k Open Race will begin at Noon with the men's 8k race following at 12:45 pm ... Northern is coming off a historic afternoon at the All-Ohio Championships on Sept. 29 ... Junior Ian McVey became the first Ohio Northern runner to win the All-Ohio individual crown, finishing first of 135 NCAA Division III runners in a season-low 25:14 ... Northern won the 17-team NCAA Division III meet with 56 points. It marked the third time since 2011 that ONU won the team title in the DIII race ... Senior Bobby Borger and senior Matt Molinaro also posted top-10 finishes for Northern. Borger was sixth in25:43 and Molinaro was 25:59 in his first race of the season ... Senior Sam Boyd also finished in the top-15 as he was 12th in 26:06.
