ONU Race Notes: Ohio Northern enters Friday's meet in looking to defend its 2015 title ... The Polar Bears have won the Division III race in the All-Ohio Championships race in 2015, 2011, 2009 and 2007 and have posted 17 consecutive upper division finishes ... The men's race is slated to begin at 2 pm with the women's race following at 2:45 pm... A total of 46 men's teams, including 17 Division III schools, are expected to compete in the race ... There will also be a women's open race at 3:30 and a men's open race at 4:15 pm ... Northern is coming off of a first place finish at the Michigan State Spartan Invitational on Sept. 14 ... The Polar Bears placed runners in the top 8 spots and swept a squad of Calvin (Mich.) reserves 15-50 ... Senior Andrew Harden won the race in 26:16, while sophomore Ian McVey finished second in 26:22 and senior Cully Gordon rounded out the top three in 26:23 ... Northern is receiving votes in the latest USTFCCCA poll after being ranked as high as No. 32 earlier this year ... This marks the second consecutive year that the Polar Bears have been nationally ranked ... Head coach Jason Maus currently ranks second all-time at Ohio Northern with 746 career wins and is 27 victories shy of surpassing former Polar Bear head coach Brian Cole as the winningest head coach in ONU history.
