Dean breaks 49-year old school record in 200, leads Men's Outdoor track and Field to victory at 9-team Manchester (Ind.) Invitational

NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. — Junior All-American Jordan Dean (Cleveland/Villa Angela Saint Joseph) broke the 49-year old school record in the 200-meter dash to lead the Ohio Northern men's outdoor track and field team at the Manchester (Ind.) Invitational on Saturday.

- Ohio Northern won the 9-team meet with 270.5 points.
- Manchester (Ind.) was second with 113.5 points, Bluffton was third with 90 points and Trine (Ind.) was fourth with 85 points.
Top ONU Performers
- Dean won the 100-meter dash in :10.69, the 200-meter dash in :21.43 and was on ONU's winning 4x100 relay team.
- His 21.43 edged the 21.2 (hand timed) record set in 1975 by John Wechter. Wechter's hand-timed 21.2 translates into 21.44 with electronic timing, giving Dean the record by .01 of a second.
- Fifth-year senior Hunter Kesler (Paulding), Dean, junior Tyrese Barker (Columbus/Bishop Hartley) and freshman C.J. Boothby (Milford/Clermont Northeastern) won the relay in :40.93.
- Kesler, freshman Grant Conn (Medina/Buckeye Senior), sophomore Ben Zimmerer (Liberty Township/Lakota West) and sophomore Zach O'Neill (Holland/Maumee Valley Country Day) won the 4x400 relay in 3:21.20.
- Kesler also finished right behind Dean in the 200 in second place in :21.89.
- Senior All-American Keegan Digby (Bowling Green/Otsego) won the shot put with a toss of 17.43 meters, just .03 of a meter shy of his own school record.
- Digby also won the hammer with a toss of 52.69 meters (172-0). Senior Tommy Vetrovsky (Sagamore Hills/Nordonia) was second with a throw of 52.26 meters (171-5).
- Senior Trey Myers (Dayton/Chaminade-Julienne) and junior Ross Schlatter (Curtice/Genoa) finished 1-2 in the 400 in :48.64 and :49.35, respectively.
- Sophomore Jacob Clouse (Alvada/New Riegel) and senior Ian Ackenhausen (Xenia/Legacy Christian Academy) were 1-2 in the 800 in 2:00.05 and 2:01.00.
Notables
- Dean's time in the 100 moves him up to No. 5 all-time in ONU history.
- Myers' 400 time was a PR and moves him into fifth place all-time in ONU history.
- The 4x100 relay team finished just .18 of a second off the school record and currently ranks No. 2 nationally in the event.
- Vetrovsky's hammer throw moves him up one spot to sixth on ONU's all-time list.
- Head Coach Jason Maus is in his 15th year at Ohio Northern and is 666-157 for men's indoor track and field for a winning percentage of .809.
