Digby's record-setting performance helps Men's Indoor Track and Field to third place finish at OAC Indoor Championships

NEW CONCORD — Senior Keegan Digby (Bowling Green/Otsego) was named the Field Athlete of the Meet in a record-setting performance to lead the Ohio Northern men's indoor track and field team to a third place finish at the 2024 OAC Indoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday.

Meet Results
- The Polar Bears finished third of 10 teams with 97 points.
- Mount Union won the team title with 198 points, John Carroll was second with 156 points and Baldwin Wallace was fourth with 63 points.
Top ONU Performers
- Senior Keegan Digby (Bowling Green/Otsego) won the shot put with a school record toss of 17.29 meters.
- He was named the Male Field Athlete of the Meet after finishing fourth in the weight throw on Friday with a personal-best effort in that event.
- Fifth-year senior Hunter Kesler (Paulding), junior Ross Schlatter (Curtice/Genoa), senior Trey Myers (Dayton/Chaminade-Julienne) and junior Jordan Dean (Cleveland/Villa St Angela) won the OAC title in the 4x400 relay in 3:18.93.
- Junior Tyrese Barker (Columbus/Bishop Hartley) earned All-Conference honors in both the high jump and the 60-meter hurdles. He was second in the high jump by clearing a career-best 1.98 meters (6'-6") and was third in the 60 hurdles in :08.45.
- Freshman C.J. Boothby (Milford/Clermont Northeastern) was All-OAC in the 60 dash, finishing third in a school record :06.93.
- Myers was also All-Conference in the 800, as he finished third in 1:54.50.
- Dean also had an All-Conference performance in the 200, finishing tied for third in :22.13.
- 4x200 - Sophomores Zach O'Neill (Holland/Maumee Valley Country Day) and Solomon Lumb (Cincinnati/Sycamore) and freshmen Martin Kreider (Clarksville/Clinton-Massie) and Carter Byers (Lewis Center/Olentangy Orange) were fourth in the 4x200 relay in 1:31.79.
- Junior Trey Masterson (Tiffin/Hopewell-Loudon) was fourth in the 3,000 in 8:33.23.
- Freshman Grant Butler (Marion/River Valley) and sophomore Bryce Stuart (Lucasville/Valley) also placed in the high jump. Butler was fifth with a career-best 1.92 meters and Stuart tied for seventh at 1.89 meters.
Notables
- The meet consisted of 19 events - 10 individual running events, six field events and three running relays.
- The top three finishers in each event ean All-Conference honors.
- Saturday's final day of competition featured 12 events.
- Digby is now a 5-time OAC Champion in the shot put.
- He has won the last three OAC Indoor shot put titles and is the two-time defending champion Outdoors.
- Dean is now a 2-time All-OAC honoree in the 200, having finished third in 2022 and 2024.
- Dean was All-OAC in three events (200, 400, 4x400) on the weekend. On Friday, he set the ONU and OAC record by winning the 400 in 48.40.
- Boothby beat his own record of :06.94 in the 60 dash.
- Barker's 1.98-meter jump in the high jump moves him into a tie for seventh all-time at ONU.
- The 4x400 relay team now ranks 11th nationally.
- In all, Ohio Northern won three events, set one OAC record and three ONU records at the Championships.
- Head Coach Jason Maus is in his 15th year at Ohio Northern and is 658-157 for men's indoor track and field with a winning percentage of .808.
