Digby breaks own school record in shot put as Men's Indoor Track and Field wins 5th annual Larry Cole Invitational

ADA — Senior Keegan Digby (Bowling Green/Otsego) broke his own school record in the shot put to lead the Ohio Northern men's indoor track and field team to a first-place finish at the fifth annual Larry Cole Invitational on Friday night.

- The Polar Bears placed first of six teams, scoring 198 points.
- Manchester (Ind.) was second with 86 points, and Adrian (Mich.) was third with 72 points.
Top ONU Performers
- Digby won the shot put with a meet- and school-record mark of 17.22 meters. He also placed second in the weight throw with a mark of 16.35 meters.
- Freshman C.J. Boothby (Milford/Clermont Northeastern) won the long jump with a mark of 6.71 meters. Senior Gabe Hensley (Lebanon) was second with a mark of 6.28 meters.
- Boothby also won the 60 meters in a time of :07.04. Fifth-year senior Hunter Kesler (Oakwood/Paulding) was second in :07.05.
- Senior Trey Myers (Dayton/Chaminade-Julienne) won the 800 in 1:58.81.
- Freshman Cameron Shively (Lewis Center/Olentangy Orange) won the pole vault with a mark of 4.20 meters. Freshman Easton Silva (Fremont/Ross) was second with a mark of 3.95 meters.
- Junior Trey Masterson (Tiffin/Hopewell-Loudon) won the 3,000 meters in 8:47.41.
- Junior Tyrese Barker (Columbus/Bishop Hartley) won the 60-meter hurdles in :08.40. He also placed second in the 200 in :23.35.
- The team of senior David Gross (Prospect/Pleasant Local), sophomores Zach O'Neill (Holland/Maumee Valley Country Day) and Ben Zimmerer (Liberty Township/Lakota West) and freshman Grant Conn (Medina/Buckeye Senior) won the 4x400 relay in 3:32.11.
- Gross added a second-place finish in the 400 in :53.61, and Zimmerer was third in :54.72.
- Junior Corey Rinehart (Galena/Olentangy Berlin) was second in the 1,000 in 2:39.56.
- Freshman Grant Butler (Marion/River Valley) placed third in the high jump with a mark of 1.86 meters.
- Freshman J.D. Dillman (Bethel) was third in the triple jump with a mark of 12.23 meters.
- Senior Kyle Roth (Rockford/Parkway) finished third in the 3,000 in 9:17.39.
Notables
- Digby, a two-time Ohio Athletic Conference champion in the indoor shot put and an All-American in the event last season, entered Friday holding the school-record mark of 17.13 meters.
- Barker's time in the 60-meter hurdles was a Larry Cole Invitational meet record, besting the previous mark of :08.47. Barker holds the school record in the event at :08.34.
- Boothby's time in the 60 meters was a meet record, besting the previous mark of :07.08. That time is tied for ninth all-time at ONU.
- Myers' time in the 800 was a meet record, besting the previous mark of 2:02.26. His personal best of 1:54.97 ranks third all-time at ONU.
- The Polar Bears have won the Larry Cole Invitational in all five years it has been held.
