Sophomore Jordan Dean finishes 8th in 400-meter dash prelims, qualifies for Saturday's final at NCAA III Championships
ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Sophomore Jordan Dean (Euclid/Villa Angela Saint Joseph) finished eighth in the 400-meter dash prelims at the NCAA III Championships at the Polessini Track and Field Complex at St. John Fisher on Friday.
Dean's time of :46.93 was second in his heat. He will be joined in the final by fellow Ohio Athletic Conference competitors Matt McBride of Mount Union and Garrett Clark of John Carroll in the final. The three men finished 1-2-3 at the OAC Championships on May 6.
"We're really excited for Jordan, this will be the fastest field he's running in in his career," ONU sprints coach Molly Amidon said of Dean's performance. "It's great to be under 47 again. He looked great, and we're excited for the final tomorrow."
Jordan will compete in the 400-meter final at 2:10 p.m. Before that, he will join seniors Vini Souza (Spencerville), Hunter Kesler (Oakwood/Paulding) and Ollie Jacobs (DeGraff/Riverside) in the 4x100-meter relay at 12:55 p.m.
