Men’s Outdoor Track and Field posts 1-2-3 finish in the pole vault to highlight first day of Oberlin Invitational

OBERLIN — Senior Andrew Buderer (Oak Harbor) led a 1-2-3 finish in the pole vault for the Ohio Northern men's track and field team on Friday at the Bob Kahn Invitational at Kahn Track on the campus of Oberlin College.
Friday marked the first of two days for the Invitational, which is not being team scored. The day's events included the 5,000 meters, 10,000 meters, hammer throw, javelin throw and pole vault.
Buderer cleared a height of 4.61 meters to come out on top in the pole vault.
Senior Luke Shellhaas (Greenville/Versailles) placed second with a height of 4.46 meters, and junior Brandt Marshall (Hancock County/Cory-Rawson) finished third with a height of 4.31 meters.
The Polar Bears added three more top-three finishes courtesy of fifth-year senior Jack Lehr (York, Pa./Dallastown) and sophomores Tommy Vetrovsky (Macedonia) and Keegan Digby (Bowling Green/Otsego).
Lehr placed second in the javelin throw with a distance of 45.05 meters.
Vetrovsky and Digby posted respective distances of 46.96 meters and 42.84 meters to finish second and third in the hammer throw.
Vetroksky's mark was a personal-best and ranks ninth-best in program history.
The Polar Bears posted eight additional top-10 finishes on the day.
Sophomore Dakari Ward (Dayton/Wayne) placed sixth in the hammer throw with a distance of 40.89 meters, and Digby finished sixth in the javelin throw with a distance of 34.85 meters.
Northern got seventh-place finishes from Vetrovsky in the javelin throw, sophomore Zach DeBord (Mount Vernon/Highland) in the hammer throw and junior Skylar Dawson (West Salem/Northwestern) in the 5,000 meters.
Vetrovsky posted a distance of 34.40 meters, DeBord threw a mark of 40.69 meters, and Dawson ran a time of 16:11.64.
Lehr, sophomore Benjamin Arthur (Liberty Township/Lakota West) and freshman Cooper Koch (Waynesville) rounded out the Polar Bears' top-10 finishers with an 8-9-10 finish in the hammer throw with respective distances of 40.48 meters, 38.32 meters and 33.78 meters.
Northern will close out the Bob Kahn Invitational on Saturday beginning at 10:30 a.m.
