This Weekend's Preview: The Ohio Northern men's and women's outdoor track and field programs wrap up their respective pre-Ohio Athletic Conference Championship slates this Friday and Saturday when they host the 2019 AJ Cody Invitational at Kerscher Stadium ... The meet will also serve as Senior Day, recognizing the 16 senior members of the men's and women's track and field programs ... The four-team field includes Bluffton, Heidelberg, Manchester (Ind.), and Ohio Northern ... On Friday, the meet kicks off with the hammer and javelin competitions at 3 p.m. ... Field events continue Saturday morning at 11 a.m. with running events slated for a 12 p.m. start ... The Polar Bears enter the weekend sporting a 44-10 overall record ... Last weekend, ONU ended ninth at the 2019 All-Ohio Outdoor Championships held at the George Gauthier Track on the Ohio Wesleyan campus in Delaware ... In all, the Polar Bears tallied six top-five finishes over the weekend ... Freshman Andrew Buderer led the individual efforts, finishing second in the ten-man pole vault field after clearing an outdoor-best 4.46 meters (14' 7.5") ... Classmate Luke Shellhaas also placed in the event, claiming fourth with a 4.36-meter (14' 3.5") effort ... Sophomore thrower Matt Bradshaw recorded two top-five finishes in the hammer throw and the discus, tossing the former 53.73 meters (176' 3") to end fourth and the latter 45.88 meters (150' 6") for fifth ... Sophomore Sam Krabacher set a new career-best in the 800, clocking a 1:57.45 for fourth place ... Senior Spencer Schulze rounded out the top-five performances with a 15:10.78 effort in the 5,000-meter run to end fifth ... Meanwhile, senior All-American Ian McVey traveled to the Bison Outdoor Classic at Bucknell (Pa.) to compete in the 5,000 ... The Stow product ended 17th overall and second among NCAA Division III competitors with an outdoor career-best 14:27.52, which currently ranks sixth-fastest on the NCAA Division III performance list this season.
