LACROSSE, Wis. — Senior national champion and 4-time All-American Matt Molinaro (Sterling Heights, Mich./DeLaSalle) finished second in the prelims of the 1,500-meter run at the NCAA III Men's Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Thursday afternoon at Roger Harring Stadium.
Molinaro was second in his heat and second overall in 3:54.03 to advance to the finals, which will be held on Saturday at 12:25 pm (1:25 pm EST).
"Matt handled himself well," ONU head coach Jason Maus said. "It's all about just getting into the finals and he got himself in a good position. It's all about managing the race for Matt and he took care of business."
He will compete again on Friday at 5 pm (6 pm EST) in the prelims of the 800-meter run.
Molinaro won the 800-meter run at the 2018 Indoor Championships and was an All-American in the 800 indoors in 2016 and 17 and at the outdoor championships in 2017.
