Men's Outdoor Track & Field wins 2018 Polar Bear Invitational

ADA — The Ohio Northern men's outdoor track and field team won the 6-team 2018 Polar Bear Invitational on Saturday afternoon at Kerscher Stadium.
Northern (29-14 overall) won the meet with 165 points.
Seniors Alex Sibila (Zionsville, Ind.), Luke Bogdanovich (Akron/Coventry), and Brandon Emert (Brunswick) and the 4x400-meter relay team of freshmen Donovin Moran (Saint John, Ind./Hanover Central), Herrio Joseph (Lake Worth, Fla./Sanatluces), Gabe Dauch (Norwalk/St. Paul) and Jared Fox (Freemont/Ross) claimed top honors for Northern, posting first place finishes to lead ONU.
In the field events, Sibila and Bogdanovich led the way as Sibila took the title in the high jump, winning the event with a leap of 6' 6.00", while Bogdanovich won the javelin with a throw 155' 6".
Emert posted a first place finish in the 400-meter hurdles, winning the event in :57.11, while teammate and freshman Jhett Slusser (Coshocton/Ridgewood) was third in the event in :59.65.
Moran, Joseph, Dauch and Fox completed the 4x400-meter relay sweep for the men's and women's teams as they won the event in 3:28.50.
Senior Aaren Hemmelgarn (Celina/St. Henry) led a 2-3 finish for ONU in the 5,000-meter run as he finished second in 15:52.04 and freshman Dylan McKean (Warren/Champion) was third in the event in 16:37.43.
Sophomore Andrew Shelton (Williamsville, N.Y./Williamsville South) also added a third place finish in the 800-meter run in 2:00.34.
In the long jump, freshman Colin McCullough (Galion) added a third place finish with a leap of 20' 2.5".
Freshman Matt Bradshaw (Norton) led the way for ONU and the discus, finishing second in the event with a throw of 146' 3".
The Polar Bears will be back home a return to action next Friday and Saturday as they host the 2018 Outdoor Ohio Athletic Conference Championships at Kerscher Stadium.
