This Weekend's Preview: The Ohio Northern men's indoor track and field team enters the Ohio Athletic Conference looking to compete for an OAC title in 2018 ... The Polar Bears were selected to finish second in the conference in the annual preseason coaches poll ... Northern has finished second in each of the last two indoor championships and has posted top-3 finishes in the league in four consecutive seasons ... The weekends events are set to kick off on Friday afternoon at 12 pm with the men's pole vault and women's weight throw and long jump ... Senior Matt Molinaro returns in 2018 after a successful championship meet in 2017 that featured OAC titles in the 800-meter run, the 1-mile run and as a part of the distance medley relay ... Senior Alec Lunney also returns as part of the 2017 DMR championship relay team ... Molinaro currently owns the fastest time in the country in the 800-meter run and is in the top-20 nationally in the 1-mile run ... Junior Ian McVey enters the meet after winning the 3,000-meter run at the Ohio State Buckeye Tune-Up meet last weekend and breaking the school record in the event ... McVey is a 3-time All-OAC honoree in his career at the indoor OAC Championships ... Northern also got a solid week from senior Samuel Boyd last weekend as he won the 1,000-meter run at the Kenyon Classic.
