Boyd wins 1-mile run, leads Men's Indoor Track & Field at Kenyon Classic

GAMBIER — Senior Samuel Boyd (Killbuck/West Holmes) finished first in the 1,000-meter run to lead the Ohio Northern men's indoor track and field team at the Kenyon Classic on Saturday afternoon.
Northern (26-15 overall) finished fourth of 10 teams with 63 points.
Boyd finished first in the event in a season-best 4:28.28 to lead the way for ONU.
The 4x400-meter relay team of seniors Conner Karg (West Liberty/Salem), Brandon Emert (Brunswick), Alec Lunney (Middleburg Heights/Berea-Midpark), and freshman Jhett Slusser (Coshocton/Ridgewood) poated a second place finish in 3:34.20.
Karg also finished fourth in the 200-meter dash in a season-best :23.25.
In the 60-meter hurdles, freshman Owen Lloyd (Colfax, Ind./Clinton Prairie) raced to a third placed finish in a season-best time of :8.68.
Northern finished 4-6 in the 800-meter run as Lunney finished fourth in 2:02.34, senior Ian McKee (Medina) finished fifth in 2:02.51 and Boyd finished sixth in the event in 2:02.81.
The Polar Bears return to action next Saturday as they compete in the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships on the campus of Capital University.
