McVey wins twice, leads No. 22 Men's Track & Field at season-opening OAC North Split Meet

BEREA — Junior Ian McVey (Stow/Munroe/Falls) posted two first place finishes to lead the No. 22-ranked Ohio Northern men's track & field team to a third place finish on Friday evening at the Harrison Dillard Center in the season-opening OAC North Split Meet.
The Polar Bears scored 90 points and moved to 2-2 on the season.
After the team of McVey, freshmen Jordan Green (Wooster), Sam Krabacher (Hamilton/Badin), Travis Sutter (Fort Recovery) finished first in distance medley relay in 11:03.60, McVey would post a first place finish in the 1,000-meter run in a 2:36.79, while senior Alec Lunney (Middleburg Heights/Berea-Midpark) finished fourth in the event in 2:41.02.
Krabacher would score in the 800-meter run in 2:01.12, after posting a second place finish.
Freshman Colin McCullough (Galion) finished second in 55-meter hurdles in :7.98, while freshman Owen Lloyd (Colfax, Ind./Clinton Prairie) fourth in the event in :8.12, and senior Brandon Emert (Brunswick) placed sixth in :8.44.
McCullough also posted a third place finish in the 200-meter dash in :23.02.
In the 3,000-meter run, seniors Bobby Borger (Perrysburg) and Samuel Boyd (Killbuck/West Holmes) finished 2-3 in the event in 8:52.90 and 8:53.62, respectively.
In the long jump, sophomore Noah McKee (Powell/Olentangy Liberty) posted a sixth place finish with a career-best jump of 19' 9.75", and also finished third in the triple jump with a leap of 33' 0.25".
Freshman Gabe Dauch (Norwalk/Norwalk St. Pauls) would also post a top-5 finish in the 500-meter dash, claiming fifth place in 1:09.89.
In the 4x400-meter relay, the team of Dauch, McCullough, sophomore Jared Butcher (Mechanicsburg) and freshman Jared Fox (Fremont/Ross) posted a second place finish in 3:27.98.
The Polar Bears will return to action Friday, Jan. 26 through Saturday, Jan. 27 as they compete in the Midwest Track & Field Open at the SPIRE Institute and the Findlay Classic & Elite Throws meets.
