Preview: The No. 29-ranked Ohio Northern men's track and field team will look to continue its success during the 2017 Outdoor Ohio Athletic Conference Championships in New Concord, Ohio ... All 10 OAC teams will be competing at the meet ... Day one of the meet will feature field events and running events, with the first field event kicking off at noon ... The women's pole vault will open the meet ... The women's 100-meter hurdles will be the first track event of the championships ... Day two of the championships will begin at 10 am with men's shot put ... The women's 4x100-meter relay will be the first running event of the final day of competition ... Northern is entering the championships off of a second place finish at the annual Polar Bear Invitational on Saturday afternoon ... Freshman Jacob Vires led Northern at the meet with the only first place finish on the team ... Vires claimed the 100-meter dash title, winning the event in :10.97 ... In the 400-meter dash freshman Jared Butcher posted a second place finish in :51.83, while sophomore Dominic Solis posted a second place finish in the 5,000-meter run in 16:18.16 ... In the 400-meter hurdles, junior Brandon Emert finished second in :57.84 ... Northern posted a second place finish at the indoor OAC Championships where senior Kase Schalois claimed OAC Distance Runner of the Year for his efforts ... Junior mid-distance standout Matt Molinaro enters the meet with the fastest time nationally in the 800-meter run ... Senior thrower Lucas Shumate currently owns the second best toss in the OAC in the hammer throw and the 16th best nationally.
