Men's Outdoor Track & Field has solid showing at Raleigh Relays

ADA — The Ohio Northern men's outdoor track and field team posted a solid performance on the first day of the Raleigh Relays host by North Carolina State University in Raleigh, N.C.
Junior Matt Molinaro (Sterling Heights, Mich./DeLaSalle) ran a new personal best time and third fastest time in school history in the 1,500-meter run and finished 23rd overall in the race in 3:50.83.
Molinaro's time currently ranks second best in the country among Div. III athletes.
In the 3,000-meter steeplechase, senior Kase Schalois (Van Wert) finished 11th overall in 9:23.94, running the fourth fastest time in school history in the event.
Schalois currently owns the fastest time in the nation in the event.
In the discus, senior Lucas Shumate (Wapakoneta/Spencerville) tossed the second farthest throw in school history and finished ninth overall with a throw of 155' 9.00".
Shumate's toss currently ranks fifth best in the nation.
Sophomore Ian McVey (Stow/Munroe Falls) in the 5,000-meter run for Northern and posted a time of 15:25.57 for ONU.
Shumate will compete in the hammer throw tomorrow on day two of the event at 1:45 p.m., while Molinaro competes in the 800-meter run on day two at 2:15 p.m.
