Saturday's Preview: The Ohio Northern men's track and field team is set to compete in the annual Joe Banks Invitational on Saturday afternoon at the ONU Sports Center ... The meet is comprised of 15 teams ... Field events are set to begin at 11 am with track events to follow at noon ... Northern is coming off of a tenth place finish at the Grand Valley State (Mich.) Invitational ... The Polar Bears scored 24 points in the mostly Div. II dominated field ... Senior Lucas Shumate and sophomore Ian McVey both set school records at the meet ... Shumate won the weight throw with a toss of 59' 5.00" and broke his own previous school record that he set in 2015 ... McVey broke the school record in the 3,000-meter run, finishing fifth overall in 8:26.03 ... Junior Matt Molinaro finished third overall in the 800-meter run and currently owns the fastest time in the nation among Div. III athletes ... Shumate's toss currently ranks fourth in the nation, while McVey's 3,000-meter run ranks 13th in the country.
