Freshman Matt Molinaro leads Men's Track & Field to a second place finish at the Marv Frye Invitational

DELAWARE — Freshman Matt Molinaro led the Ohio Northern outdoor men's track & field team to a second place finish out of 12 teams at the Marv Frye Invitational at the George Gauthier Track located on the campus of Ohio Wesleyan.
The Polar Bears finished the meet with 134.33 points and improve to 22-1 overall this season.
Ohio Wesleyan won the meet with 146 points and Cedarville claimed third with 85 points.
Molinaro finished first in the 800-meter run crossing the finish line in 1:54.74.
Junior Christian Rupe also won the 100-meter dash finishing in 11.22 seconds.
Sophomore Dan Arkin finished second in the javelin with a toss of 52.39 meters.
In the shot put senior Phil Farwig finished second with a throw of 14.85 meters.
Junior Brandon Ike also garnered a second place finish in the pole vault clearing a height of 4.42 meters.
The 4x100 meter relay team of junior Denorris Turner, freshman Matt Craven, Rupe, and junior Jojuan Fisher placed second crossing the finish line in 42.48 seconds.
The team of Rupe, freshman Brandon Emert, senior James Rader, and Molinaro finished third in the 4x400 meter relay in a time of 3:21.67.
Sophomore Lucas Shumate finished third in the hammer throw with a pitch of 50.51 meters.
Craven also claimed a third place finish in the 110-meter hurdles finishing in 15.68 seconds.
The Polar Bears claimed second and third in the high jump as senior Ryan Brancheau finished second with a height of 1.93 meters and freshman William Wilson finished third with a height of 1.88 meters.
Junior Matthew Ernstes finished fourth in the 5,000-meter run in 15:32.58.
Senior Kyle Wagner finished fifth in the 1,500-meter run in 4:04.00.
Turner claimed a fifth place finish in the 200-meter dash in 22.87 seconds.
Senior Nathan Rosenbaum also competed at the Miami Invitational where he finished 15th in the 5,000-meter run in 15:20.18.
The Polar Bears are next in action on April 11th when they travel to Delaware for the All-Ohio Meet.
