Colbert, Rosenbaum win events to lead Men's Outdoor Track & Field on Day 1 of OAC Championships

BEREA -- Senior Josh Colbert won the long jump and junior Nate Rosenbaum captured the 10,000-meter run to lead the Ohio Northern men's outdoor track & field team at the OAC Championships on Friday evening at Finnie Stadium on the campus of Baldwin Wallace.
The Polar Bears sit in third place after the first day of competition, with 38 points.
Mount Union is in first place with 73 points, John Carroll is second with 43 points and ONU is third.
Colbert posted a leap of 7.07 meters (23-2.50) on his final jump to capture the long jump.
Rosenbaum used a late surge to pull away on the final lap in the 10,000-meter run, crossing the finish line in 31:45.94.
Freshman Cully Gordon finished fourth in the 10,000-meter run, crossing in 32:07.47.
The 4x800-meter relay team of senior Evan McKee, junior Kyle Wagner, sophomore Dan Sowa and freshman Andrew Harden finished fifth in 7:58.72.
In the hammer throw, junior Phil Farwig came in sixth with a throw of 45.14 meters (148-1) and freshman Lucas Shumate finished right behind in seventh with a throw of 44.75 meters (146-10).
Farwig also finished sixth in the shot put, with a throw covering 14.46 meters (47-5.25).
Sophomore Brandon Ike finished in a tie for seventh in the pole vault, clearing 4.45 meters (14-7.25).
ONU will compete in Day 2 on Saturday, with field events beginning at 10 am and running events starting at 2 pm.
