Men's Outdoor Track & Field finishes fifth at All-Ohio Championships

DELAWARE -- Senior Mark Berton won the 3,000-meter steeplechase and senior Josh Colbert won the long jump to lead the Ohio Northern men's outdoor track & field team at the All-Ohio Championships at Ohio Wesleyan on Saturday.
The Polar Bears finished with 51.5 points, which placed them fifth of 20 teams.
No. 6 Mount Union won the meet with 189.5 points, Ohio Wesleyan was second with 127 points and Baldwin Wallace was third with 82 points.
Berton crossed the finish line in 9:34.23 and Colbert posted a leap of 6.80 meters (22-3.75).
The 4x100-meter relay team of senior Francisque Pierre-Jerome, sophomore Christian Rupe, sophomore Jojuan Fisher and Colbert came in fourth place in 42.05 seconds.
Colbet finished seventh and Pierre-Jerome finished eighth in the 100-meter dash, in 10.78 seconds and 10.89 seconds, respectively.
In the 5,000-meter run, senior Tyler Feitshans came in second in 15:26.62 and freshman Aaren Hemmelgarn finished fourth in 15:31.62.
Junior Ryan Brancheau finished in a tie for fifth place in the high jump, clearing 1.93 meters (6-4.00) and freshman Dan Arkin was sixth in the javelin, with a throw of 50.82 meters (166-9).
Freshman Lucas Shumate was seventh in the hammer, with a throw of 47.85 meters (157-00).
Freshman Adam Berry finished eighth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, crossing the finish line in 10:05.09 and freshman Patrick Jeffries was eighth in the 400-meter hurdles in 56.79 seconds.
Ohio Northern will return to action on April 19, when it takes part in the Kenyon Invitational.
