Phillip Farwig wins weight throw to lead Men's Indoor Track & Field at Capital Last Call meet

COLUMBUS -- Junior Phil Farwig won the 35-pound weight throw by nearly four feet to lead the Ohio Northern men's indoor track and field team at the Capital Last Call meet on Saturday at the Capital Center.
The Polar Bears (36-8 overall) finished fourth of 14 teams with 66 points.
Wilmigton won the meet with 96 points, Rio Grande was second with 83 points and Otterbein finished third with 77 points.
Farwig threw the weight 52' 7 1/2" and finished seventh in the shot put with a toss of 43' 3 3/4".
Senior Mark Berton and junior James Rader each posted second place finishes.
Berton was second in the 1-mile run in 4:31.35 and Rader was second in the 500-meter dash in 1:08.04.
Sophomore Brandon Ike was third in the pole vault by clearing 14' and sophomore William Huddleston was third in the 1000-meter run in 2:36.57.
Junior Dan Steigerwald was fourth in the 1000 in 2:37.33 and sophomore Steven Gohrband was fifth in the pole vault by clearing 13' 4".
The Polar Bears will return to action at the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships Friday and Saturday at Mount Union.
