Northern's 4x100 relay team gets All-American honors at 2011 NCAA Outdoor Championships
DELAWARE — The Ohio Northern men's 4x100 relay team earned All-American status with an eighth-place finish Saturday afternoon at the 2011 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by Ohio Wesleyan.
The quartet of seniors Evan Heyman (Norwalk/Monroeville) and Ryan Fleming (Maitland, Fla./Lyman), junior Jacob Schwab (Willard/Monroeville) and freshman Francisque Pierre-Jerome (Lauderhill, Fla./South Plantation) finished the race in 42.16. The squad from McMurry (Texas) won the title in 40.76.
The Northern squad is the third 4x100 relay team to earn the All-American honor, with the last title coming in 2009. ONU now has 33 all-time outdoor track & field All-Americans.
For Schwab, this is his second All-American finish this year, as he also represented the Polar Bears at the indoor national championships in March with an eight-place finish in the 400-meter race.
Northern's 2011 outdoor season comes to a close with a 29-8 record and a third place finish at the OAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
