Men's Track & Field paced by four victories at Sparky Adams Invite hosted by B-W
BEREA - The Ohio Northern men's track & field had four first-place finishes Saturday afternoon at the non-scoring Sparky Adams Invitational hosted by Baldwin-Wallace.
Juniors Ryan Fleming and Garrett Brown, senior Jacob Weyrauch and the 4x400-meter relay team all earned event victories at the meet.
Fleming was first in the 100-meter dash in 11.15, as Brown was first in the 400-meter hurdles in 55.29. Weyrauch won the pole vault for the second weekend in a row, this time by clearing a height of 15-5.
Brown, senior Joe Amstutz and juniors Shane Huntley and Evan Heyman comprised the 4x400-meter relay team which crossed the finish line first in 3:20.21.
Senior Sean Lemke had the team's only second-place finish by finishing the 10,000-meter run in 34:18.19.
Juniors Tim Polack and Joe Gutter each had a pair of top-8 finishes for the Polar Bears.
Polack tied for third place in the high jump with a height of 6-1.5 and was sixth in the 110-meter hurdles by finishing in 16.63. Gutter was fourth in the hammer throw with a distance of 158-0 and eighth in the shot put with a throw of 46-1.25.
Sophomore Dan Smith finished fifth in the 800-meter run in 1:55.16, and senior Mike Johnson finished eighth in the 400-meter dash in 50.38.
Ohio Northern will look to win its second conference championship next Friday and Saturday when it competes at the Ohio Athletic Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Mount Union.
