Men's Tennis moves into sole possession of first place in OAC with 7-2 victory over Otterbein in battle of league unbeatens

LIMA — The Ohio Northern men's tennis team grabbed solo possession first place in the Ohio Athletic Conference regular season standings with an 8-1 victory over Otterbein on a warm and sunny Tuesday afternoon.
The Basics
- Records: Ohio Northern (15-5 overall, 4-0 OAC), Otterbein (11-5 Overall, 3-1 OAC)

Match Highlights
- The Polar Bears swept the six singles courts after winning two of the three doubles courts.
- Junior Peyton Specht (Munster, Ind.) and freshman Tyler Wood (Toledo/St. John's) won 8-3 at No. 2 doubles to give ONU a 1-0 lead.
- Juniors T.J. Schultz (Grand Blanc, Mich.) and Sam Sran (Punjab, India/St. Stephens and Giian Jyoti Global) made it 2-1 with an 8-5 win at No. 1 doubles.
- Schultz then won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3 singles and Wood won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 4 singles to give Northern a 4-1 advantage.
- Junior Drew Swisher (Findlay) clinched the match with a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 6 singles.
- Specht then won 6-2, 6-3 at No. 2 singles to make the score 6-1.
- Freshman Kessler Hackenberger (Tipp City/Tippecanoe) made it 7-1 with a 0-6, 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 5 singles.

- Specht, Wood and Schultz all went 2-0 on the day.
- ONU is now 41-13 all-time against Otterbein, including a 18-5 margin at home.
- Northern can clinch its third consecutive OAC Regular Season title with a victory in either of its final regular season match against Mount Union or Capital.
