Men's Tennis opens OAC slate with 7-0 victory at Marietta

MARIETTA — The Ohio Northern men's tennis team opened the Ohio Athletic Conference portion of its schedule with a 7-0 victory at Marietta on Friday afternoon.
The Basics
- Records: Ohio Northern (12-5 overall, 1-0 OAC), Marietta (0-3 Overall, 0-2 OAC)

Match Highlights
- Junior Drew Swisher (Findlay) and freshman Kessler Hackenberger (Tipp City/Tippecanoe) won 8-0 at No. 1 doubles.
- Junior T.J. Schultz (Grand Blanc, Mich.) and senior Isaac Spar (Ada) won 8-0 at No. 2 doubles.
- Schultz won 6-0, 6-2 at No. 1 singles and Hackenberger won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2 singles.
- Swisher won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 singles and freshman Kosuke Asada (Findlay) won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 4 singles.
- Marietta only had four healthy players and forfeited the No. 3 doubles and Nos. 5 and 6 singles courts.
- Due to the Eater holiday and Marietta's small roster, ONU only traveled five players, which caused double-forfeits at No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles.
Notables
- The victory clinched the Polar Bears' seventh consecutive winning season.
- ONU is now 34-0 all-time against Marietta.
- Specht and Wood each went 3-1 on the day.
- Freshman Tyler Wood (Toledo/St. John's) leads the team with a 14-5 singles record.
- Hackenberger and junior Peyton Specht each have a team-best 17 doubles wins and Hackenberger is a team-best 29-6 overall.
- Second-year head coach Sean Swisher is now 23-13 at the helm of the ONU men's tennis team, a winning percentage of .639.
