ADA — The Ohio Northern men's tennis team will travel to Case Western Reserve and face Grove City (Pa.) on Friday in the First Round of the NCAA III Men's Tennis Tournament.
The Polar Bears (22-4) and the Wolverines (16-2) will battle to advance and face tournament host and No. 2-ranked Case Western Reserve in the Second Round on Saturday.
The other First Round match on Friday will feature Kalamazoo (Mich.) and Nazareth (Pa.), with that winner advancing to face No. 39-ranked Wisconsin-Whitewater in Saturday's other Second Round match.
The Championship match is slated for Sunday.
Times are expected to be announced by Tuesday.
The Polar Bears earned the Ohio Athletic Conference's automatic bid to the NCAA III Championships by winning the OAC Tournament last weekend.
The NCAA Tournament is a 44-team field with five six-team Regionals, two five-team Regionals and one four-team Regional playing either a Thursday-Saturday or a Friday-Sunday format.
The eight Regional champions advance to the NCAA III Men's Tennis Championships May 23-25 at the USTA National Campus, Orlando, Fla.
This marks the first time since 2013 and the sixth time overall that ONU has won the OAC Tournament title and advanced to the NCAA III Tournament.
Northern has won 11 OAC Tournament titles overall.
