ADA — Ohio Northern freshman Peyton Specht (Munster, Ind.) was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week for the week of April 25 to May 1.
This marks the second such honor for Specht this season, joining the one he earned on Feb. 21.
Specht earned the latest accolade after going 2-0 in Friday's 5-4 win over John Carroll that handed the Polar Bears the OAC Regular Season title and top seed for the conference tournament.
Specht won 8-5 at No. 2 doubles and went on to claim a 6-2, 6-4 victory at No. 4 singles as the Polar Bears won their 10th regular-season conference title and first since 2013.
ONU's victory also snapped JCU's 61-match OAC regular-season winning streak.
Specht is 16-4 in singles and 12-7 in doubles this season for an overall record of 28-11.
As the No. 1 seed, Northern earned a first-round bye in the conference tournament and will return to action to compete in the semifinals on Friday at the Lindner Tennis Center in Mason.
