Men's Tennis runs winning streak to five matches with 5-2 victory at Bethel (Ind.)

SOUTH BEND, Ind. — The Ohio Northern men's tennis team ran its winning streak to five matches with a 5-2 victory at Bethel (Ind.) on Friday night indoors at the South Bend Racquet Club.
The Polar Bears improve to 12-3, while the Pilots fall to 3-16.
The teams played under NAIA rules, which counts the three doubles matches as one team point.
Northern grabbed that point by sweeping all three doubles courts, led by senior Zach Beaschler (Ada) and freshman Drew Swisher (Findlay) with a 6-1 win at No. 3 doubles.
Senior Vinh Thai (Columbus/Galloway/Saint Charles) and junior Matt Garcia (Downers Grove, Ill./South) won 6-4 at No.1 doubles and senior Andrew Cochran (Wooster) and freshman Sam Sran (PB, India/St. Stephens and Gian Jyoti Global) won 6-4 at No. 2 doubles.
ONU then took four of the six singles courts to seal the victory.
Thai won 7-5, 6-4 at No. 2 singles, Beaschler won 6-1, 6-3 at No. 4, Garcia won 2-6, 6-3, 6-0 at No. 5 and sophomore Kavya Desai (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.) celebrated his birthday with a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 6.
The Polar Bears will have a quick turnaround, playing Saturday at 4:30 pm at Rose-Hulman (Ind.)
