CEDARVILLE — The Ohio Northern men's tennis team opened its 2020-21 season with a 5-2 loss at NCAA Division II Cedarville Saturday afternoon at the Johnson-Murdoch Tennis Complex.
The Polar Bears (0-1 overall) got singles victories from freshman Peyton Specht (Munster, Ind.) and Sam Sran (PB, India/St. Stephens and Gian Jyoti Global) at Nos. 4 and 6 singles, respectively.
The NCAA Division II Yellow Jackets improve to 3-0.
The teams played the NCAA Division II rules, which feature 6-game doubles matches, no-let serving and a 7-point scoring system in which the team that wins two of the three doubles matches will score the single doubles point.
CU swept the doubles matches to win the doubles point, then took four of the six singles matches to stay undefeated on the year.
