Men's Tennis clinches spot in OAC Tournament with 9-0 victory over Mount Union in regular season finale

LIMA —The Ohio Northern men's tennis team clinched a spot in the Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament with a 9-0 victory over Mount Union on Saturday afternoon indoors at the Westwood Tennis Center.
The Polar Bears wrap up their regular season with a 4-2 record, both overall and in the OAC.
The Purple Raiders fall to 1-2, 1-2.
Senior Vinh Thai (Galloway/St. Charles) and junior Andrew Cochran (Wooster) led Ohio Northern with wins at Nos. 1 and 2 singles.
Thai won 6-3, 4-6, 10-5 at No. 1 singles and Cochran won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2 singles.
Thai also won 8-6 at No. 1 doubles with sophomore Matt Garcia (Downers Grove, Ill/South) and Cochran joined with junior Zach Beaschler (Ada) to win 8-6 at No. 2 doubles.
Freshman Kavya Desai and sophomore Maxim Smith (Medina) won 8-2 at No. 3 doubles for ONU.
Beaschler won 6-4, 6-1 at No. 3 singles, Desai won 4-6, 6-0, 11-9 at No. 5 singles, Garcia won 6-0, 6-2 at No. 5 singles and freshman Isaac Spar (Ada) won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 6 singles.
The Polar Bears will compete next in the semifinals of the OAC Tournament on May 7 at the Lindner Tennis Center in Mason.
