Men’s Tennis claims two wins on final day of Florida trip

ORLANDO, Fla. — The Ohio Northern men's tennis team closed out its Florida trip in fine fashion Friday. The Polar Bears downed Wartburg (Iowa) 9-0 prior to beating St. John's (Minn.) 6-3 in matches played at the USTA National Campus. The victories improved Northern to 6-4 on the season.
The Polar Bears made quick work of Wartburg, winning every match in straight sets. Junior Vinh Thai (Galloway/St. Charles), sophomore Noah Elliott (Hilliard/Davidson), sophomore Zach Beaschler (Ada), sophomore Andrew Cochran (Wooster), sophomore Nate Meadors (Dublin/Jerome) and freshman Cade Mullins (Ada) all won their singles matches in two sets.
Thai and freshman Matt Garcia (Downers Grove, Ill./South), Elliott and junior Hoang Do (Powell/Olentangy Liberty), Beaschler and Cochran also teamed up to win all three doubles matches.
Beaschler and Cochran won in straight sets against their St. John's foes, while Elliott and Do toppled their opponents in three sets. Do and Elliott and Beaschler and Cochran both won their doubles matches, as well.
The Polar Bears return to Ohio, playing host to Adrian (Mich) March 14 at the Westwood Tennis Center in Lima.
