Men's Tennis advances to OAC Tournament finals with 5-0 sweep of Otterbein

MIAMISBURG - Third-seeded Ohio Northern swept second-seeded Otterbein 5-0 in the semifinals of the 2019 Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Tournament on Friday afternoon indoors at the South Regency Tennis Club.
The Polar Bears improve to 14-8 overall and will move on to the OAC Tournament finals on Saturday at 10 am at the Lindner Family Tennis Center against top-seeded John Carroll.
Otterbein ends its season at 18-4.
John Carroll topped fourth-seeded Mount Union 5-1 in the other semifinal on Friday to join ONU in Saturday's finals.
Junior Connor Christian (Gallipolis/Gallia Academy) and freshman Andrew Cochran (Wooster) got the Polar Bears off to a 1-0 lead with an 8-5 victory at No. 3 doubles.
Sophomore Hoang Do (Powell/Olentangy Liberty) and freshman Zach Beaschler (Ada) won 8-4 on the No. 2 court to make it 2-0.
Sophomore Vinh Thai (Galloway/St. Charles) and freshman Noah Elliott (Hilliard/Davidson) captured an 8-4 victory in the No. 1 slot to complete the doubles sweep.
In singles play, Do rallied from an early 4-0 deficit to win 7-6(4), 6-0 at No. 3 singles and Elliott came from behind to win 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 at No. 2 singles to finish the match.
Thai was leading 6-4, 4-5 at No. 1 singles and Beaschler's No. 4 singles match was just underway with the match was completed.
