Men's Tennis opens OAC action with 9-0 sweep of Heidelberg

LIMA — The Ohio Northern men's tennis team opened the Ohio Athletic Conference portion of its schedule with a 9-0 sweep of Heidelberg on Saturday afternoon at the Westwood Tennis & Fitness Center.
The Polar Bears improve to 7-4 overall and 1-0 in the OAC, while the Student Princes fall to 0-11, 0-1.
Northern got off to a quick start by sweeping the doubles courts in convincing fashion, dropping only two games.
Junior Tim Kargl (Downers Grove, Ill./South) and senior Cody Hurley (Centerville) won 8-0 at No. 3, while freshmen Vinh Thai (Galloway/St. Charles) and Hoang Do (Powell/Olentangy Liberty) won 8-1 at No. 1 and junior Jake Abbott (Kenton) and sophomore Connor Christian (Gallipolis/Gallia) won 8-1 at No. 2.
Freshman Drew Sarno (Elida) won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5 singles and freshman Joji Imatomi (Yokohama, Japan/Kamakuragakuen) won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6 singles to clinch the match.
In other singles action, Christian won 6-1, 6-3 at No. 1, Kargl won 7-5, 6-3 at No. 2, Abbott won 6-0, 6-2 at No. 3 and sophomore Tyler Frantz (Bellefontaine) won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 4.
The Polar Bears will return to action on Wednesday with a home match against Earlham (Ind.)
