Men's Tennis posts thrilling 5-4 victory over Roanoke (Va.)

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. -- The Ohio Northern men's tennis team posted a thrilling 5-4 victory over Roanoke (Va.) on Wednesday afternoon at Palmetto Dunes Tennis Center.
The Polar Bears improve to 6-2 on the season, while the Maroons fall to 1-3.
With the score tied at 4-all, sophomore David Hayman (Westerville/South) decided the match with a 6-3, 6-4 victory at No. 2 singles.
Roanoke took a 2-1 lead after winning Nos. 1 and 2 doubles.
Hayman and junior Cody Hurley (Centerville) won 8-3 at No. 3 doubles for Ohio Northern.
The bottom of the lineup came out strong for ONU in singles, as the Polar Bears swept the 4, 5 and 6 spots to take a 4-2 lead.
Sophomore Jake Abbott (Kenton), freshman Tyler Frantz (Bellefontaine) and Hurley all won in straight sets.
After the Maroon won at No. 3 and No. 1 singles to tie the match, Hayman finished the contest with his win at No. 2.
The Polar Bears will wrap up their Spring Break trip on Thursday morning with a match against Albion (Mich.) at 8:30 am at Hilton Head H.S.
