BEREA — Sophomore Alex Genbauffe won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6 singles to help the Ohio Northern men's tennis team to a 9-0 sweep of Berea (Ky.) Friday afternoon at the Lindner Family Tennis Center.
The Polar Bears improve to 4-7, while the Mountaineers fall to 0-4.
Northern swept all nine courts, not allowing more than two games in any set.
Junior John Mostpwy and senior Alex Altman posted 6-0, 6-2 victories at Nos. 1 and 4 singles, respectively.
Senior Sam Prewitt (No. 3 singles) and sophomore Gary Hess (No. 5 singles) each won by 6-2, 6-1 scores and sophomore Alex Starr won 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2 singles.
In doubles play, Alex Starr and junior Andy Starr won 8-1 at No. 2 doubles, Altman and Hess won 8-1 at No. 3 doubles and Mostowy and Prewitt won 8-2 at No. 1 doubles.
The Polar Bears will return to action Saturday and Sunday at the Lindner Tennis Center in the OAC Tennis Festival.
ONU will face Muskingum on Saturday and Marietta on Sunday in Ohio Athletic Conference action.
